Apple last week announcement

Apple , last week released following new products iPhone SE , iPad Air, Mac Studio and Mac Studio Ultra.

New iPhone SE supports 5G network and also it has powerful A15 Bionic chip and 12mp camera

iPad Air consists of M1 chip which was used in mac book air and Mac book pro model. This device also supports 5G network and also support up to 2Gen Apple Pencil.

Mac Studio , New desktop variant by apple.

This Mac studio comes with two variants of chip M1 Max and M1 Ultra

M1 Max features, It has 10 Core CPU, 32 core GPU and it has separate media engine , Neural Engine which can perform 11 billion operation per second.

M1 Ultra is $4000 dollar machine and it had double the CPU and GPU cores of M1 Max . It has 20 Core CPU in that 16 Core High Efficiency core and 4 core power efficiency core. I has 64 Core GPU with is 8 times faster than the previous Gen Chip.

This chip supports up to 128Gb of RAM (unified memory) and 8 TB SSD.

32 Core Neural Engine can perform 11 trillion operation per second

Reason Behind the Facebook Outage

Last week October 4, Facebook services are down for 6 hours . According to Facebook this outage is not caused by any cyber attacks and main reason for the outage is due to the their BGP , this will show us a path to Facebook Data Centers.

Facebook Detailed about this incident caused due to one of regular maintenance , they mentioned that in order to check quality of global backbone capacity when they entered the command on machine and entire network connection is disconnected and Facebook also lost its connection to own Data Centers around the World. They also further mentioned that they have audit tool to stop these type of issue but due to bug it could not work properly.

These caused the BGP issue this is the protocol will advertise the DNS server IP address to rest of internet. while due to data Center disconnected BGP stop advertising this leads to entire outage around the world.

When will I get Windows 11

Windows, on October 5 officially stated that it is releasing the new Windows 11 to new and eligible computer. So if we have windows 10 machine when we will get the windows 11 . Windows stated they will release the update in phased major based on when device is purchased and hardware eligibility. Windows said new eligible device will get first update and they did not mention that device name right now and existing devices will get update by mid 2022.

APPLE New Mobile Processor A15 Bionic Chip

Apple A15 Bionic Chip

Apple  Officially released its new mobile Processor  A15 series chip last week. 

Apple  A15  Bionic CPU has Two performance cores named as Avalanche CPU cores and four Power Efficient CPU core named as Blizzard cores. This CPU has max clock frequency  of  3.23 GHz. 

This  SOC is built using 5nm fabrication process by TSMC , Taiwan.

GPU – It has two variant  4 core and 5 core GPU ,  4 core GPU are used in iPhone 13 and mini , 5 core GPU is used in iPhone 13 pro and max.

Neural Engine –  It has 16 Core Neural Engine while is useful for processing the Machine learning tasks. It can perform 15.8 trillion operations per second.

Apple has significantly increased its chip transistors from 11.8 billion to 15 billion.  i.e. – 1 billion = 100 crores.

Major highlights of this chip is GPU performance according to Geek bench 5 , A15 bionic  GPU is 55% increase performance when compare to last generation A14 Bionic chip.

APPLE also update some of features like New Video Encoder and Decoder , Image Signal Processor and also New Engine for Display this allows new apple phone can work in different screen Hz based on Touch Response by the users.

Samsung New Mobile Processor Exynos 2100

In CES 2021 , on Jan 12 Samsung revealed the new Mobile Processor Exynos 2100 and this processor supports 5G Cellular Network.

Specification:

  1. This chip built on 5nm process node.

  2. Similar to Snapdragon 888 , Samsung added the Cortex X1 as Prime core and the Max clock frequency of this core is 2.9 GHZ

  3. CPU : It is a 8 Core CPU with One Prime Core Cortex X1 and 3 High performance Core of Cortex A78 Clocked Max up to 2.8GHz and 4 Power efficiency Core of Cortex A55 Clocked Max up to 2.2GHz.

  4. GPU: It has 14 Core Mali G78 GPU and it can supports new Vulkan and OpenCL Graphics Libraries.

  5. It can Support up to 4k Screen with 120Hz refresh rate and also supports 144Hz refresh rate for QHD+ display.

  6. This Chip is capable of supporting 200MP Single Camera.

  7. This chip supports both 4G and 5G Networks. In 5G According to Samsung data if our network is connected in mmWave it can have peak download speed of 7.35 Gbps and we can Upload the data at 3.67 Gbps speed.

  8. Memory Technology LPDDR5 .

  9. It has Tri Core NPU which can perform 26 Trillion operation per second. They also mentioned this architecture is twice the power efficiency than the previous chip.

  10. Overall the CPU will give us 30 percent increase in Multicore performance and GPU Jumps to 40 percent more powerful than Exynos 990 Processor.

  11. Samsung also mentioned they implemented the  advanced multi-IP governor (AMIGO) technology to reduce the power consumption on both GPU and CPU.

SNAPDRAGON 888

Qualcomm released its premium tier mobile processor chip named snapdragon 888.

CPU :

Kyro 680 CPU has one Prime core of arm Cortex -x1 clocked at 2.84GHz with 1MB L2 Cache . It has three Big Cores of Cortex A78 Clocked at 2.4 GHz with 512KB L2 Cache and finally it has four efficiency core of Cortex A55 Clocked at 1.8GHz with 128KB L2 Cache. Cortex X1 is used for accelerate single threaded performance.

According to Qualcomm this CPU is 25% more powerful than previous gen and 25% more power efficient

GPU:

Adreno 660 GPU they mentioned it is 35% more powerful in graphics rendering and 20% more power efficient . Qualcomm also said that they have implemented the game quick touch technology so this will improve the touch response on the screen. They also implemented the desktop processor technology to this SOC named as Variable Rate Shading .

Connectivity:

Qualcomm implemented the 5G modem inside this chip named as X 60 Modem . This modem is capable of 7.5 Gbps download speed and 3 Gbps upload speed.

Qualcomm Fast Connect is another implementation on this SOC this part is implemented for Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E ( 6GHz). This also has Bluetooth 5.2 support.

Qualcomm Spectra 580 is new image processor used in this chip which is 35% increase in speed compare to previous Gen. This will also improves the low light photo capturing. in Burst capture mode we can capture 120 photos per second.

Qualcomm also implemented the 10bit HDR HEIF Photo Capture so we can capture the photo with over one billion shades of color.

This ISP support 8k video capture at 30FPS

Hexagon 780 Processor : This architecture is used for AI purpose . It has 43% faster AI performance when compare to previous generation processor. This processor can handle 26TOPS Trillion operations per second.

Hypervisor: Qualcomm has introduced the Hypervisor for the first time in Soc. They claimed this improve the security of device and we can run isolated Operating System for each app in one mobile phone.

Over all this processor will give you 20% faster CPU performance , 35% Faster graphics rendering and improved the ISP and Hexagon Processor.

Apple Store has Changed its commission structure from 30 to 15 % fees for small and individual developers . This structure only suits if the developer or small organization earning less than $1 million in a year.

Elisa, Finland ‘s Telecommunication company has achieved the record 5G network speed. This was tested between Nokia AirScale radios 5G base station and two 5G smartphone powered by Snapdragon™ X55 5G Modem , During this Test both of the devices reached the 4 Gbps data transfer.

Goggle Messages app – google has stated that they are officially rolled out the RCS feature messaging app Globally . RCS is replacement to messaging service used on telecommunication network . This service helps us prevent the spam messages and also it has End to End encryption technique. While this encryption only useful if both the person using google messaging app.

A NEW SOC FOR MAC

Apple announced its new chip for its new MacBook line up . On November 10,2020 Apple announced the new M1 chip for upcoming mac products.

M1 chip is similar to processor used in mobile Phones. Qualcomm also introduced the similar type of chip named as 8cx for laptop on 2018.

M1 chip features:

8 Core CPU , 8 Core GPU, 16Core Neural Engine.

M1 has 16 Billion Transistors which is built on 5 nm fabrication node. This makes the chip as more power efficient.

Apple Claims the 8 Core CPU is 3.5x faster than intel 1.2GHz quadcore i7 processor and 8 Core GPU can handle 25K threads at the same time. 16 core Neural Engine can run 11 trillion operations per second.

Apple also introduced three Mac products built using this M1 chip MacBook Air , MacBook Pro 13 , Mac Mini.

Memory for this computer built internally inside the M1 chip, so when you purchasing the laptop you should be careful of choosing the memory configuration because you didn’t have a option to increase the memory once you have bought these products.

Apple said all of his mac products will be shifted from intel based chips to apple based SOC within next two years.

Apple may introduce new Soc chip for mac book pro 16 in feature this will be more powerful than M1 Chip to handle heavy task.

AMD New Graphics Card

AMD announced three new Graphics Card on Wednesday( 28/10/2020).
Radeon 6900 XT , 6800 XT, RX6800 These Graphics Card are direct competition to Nvidia Graphics Processor which was currently available( RTX3090 , RTX 3080)
These processor was built using TSMC 7nm node and it has 26.8 billion transistors .
These processor are built using new RDNA 2 Architecture these leads to 65% increase in power per watt ratio when compare to previous Generation Architecture.
Feature of this new Graphics processors:
Cache : AMD named their cache as AMD Infinity Cache . They have implemented 128MB cache with 256bit 16Gbps bandwidth this will increase the performance for GPU and reduce the latency while gaming.
AMD Standard Access memory: This feature will help the CPU can access the GPU memory directly. While this feature only possible if you going to connect AMD GPU with AMD CPU.
These processor also support the Direct x 12 and Direct X ray tracing . Ray tracing is possible by Hardware Ray Accelerator special compute unit implemented inside the chip.

AMD Introduced Four New Desktop Processor. This year AMD introduced new CPU architecture ZEN 3.
